The Baseball Project At The Bat

What happens when a passionate love of rock 'n' roll meets a nostalgic obsession with America's pastime? The Baseball Project's Volume One: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails should give you a good idea. The project, whose origins reach back to 1992, started when musicians Scott McCaughey and Steve Wynn discovered their shared interest in baseball and decided to weave together baseball stories and modern-rock flair. In 2007, they were joined by Linda Pittmon and Peter Buck, with whom they recorded 2008's Volume One: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails.

The album is a melodic crash course in baseball history. The songs explore the ups and downs of legendary players such as Curt Flood, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams and more. Whether you're rooting for the Yankees or the Phillies, there's no better way to celebrate the World Series than with this session from World Cafe.
