Frankfort – House Bill One, on domestic violence, is headed to a conference committee in the Kentucky General Assembly. The House and Senate approved different versions of the bill, so negotiators from each chamber will seek a compromise. House Speaker Greg Stumbo, the bill's primary sponsor, is confident a final agreement isn't far off.
"We've sent an email out to many of the advocates and folks who have been interested in that bill, just to let them know what's going on. So, we're just really awaiting the mechanics of appointing a conference committee and putting the final touches on it."
The bill, which allows electronic monitoring in some domestic violence cases, is named for Amanda Ross, who was murdered in Lexington last year. Accused of killing her is former lawmaker Steve Nunn, who has pleaded NOT guilty.
