Metropolis, IL – The destruction of a section of Missouri floodwall along the Mississippi River will hopefully alleviate flooding problems for cities downstream. One of those cities is Cairo, Illinois in Alexander County. Flooding there had reached almost 62 feet prior to the levee breach. It's since fallen to just over 60 feet. Alexander County Emergency Management Director Marty Nicholson is thankful the levee was breached, but she says now that Cairo has some relief, it's become a matter of hard work to recover from the flooding Cairo's already received. Chris Taylor speaks with Nicholson about the status of her county.
