Murray, KY – In Kentucky many new laws have taken effect this month. Lawmakers tout one justice reform bill that they expect will decrease the state's prison population, reduce incarceration costs, reduce crime and increase public safety. HB 463 bill modernizes Kentucky drug laws. It reduces prison time for low-risk, non-violent drug offenders who possess small amounts of illegal drugs. The law also strengthens probation and parole laws. Gary Pitts speaks with one of the key sponsors of this piece of legislation, Hopkinsville Representative John Tilley.
