Murray, KY – We resume our monthly conversations with Murray State President Dr. Randy Dunn.
This week Dr. Dunn talks about a newly approved MSU Diversity Policy. He explains how the policy, once approved by Kentucky's Council on Post Secondary Education and implemented on campus, will change the way MSU recruits both students and faculty. Dunn says the policy will also help provide a more inclusive campus atmosphere
Then we hear of MSU's request for capitol projects from the state legislature. The number one priority remains finishing MSU's west science complex. Dunn says that project has been in the works for over 12 years. Dunn says while the state may only grant one project per state university, MSU must submit a long lists of proposed projects. Among other projects the list includes an upgrade to the campus electrical grid and a $62 million library. Dunn says MSU might be able to build the library by selling agency bonds. That means the University would finance the project, much like it did for new residential colleges. Student fees would pay off the bonds. Dunn says this isn't the plan, rather an option. He says it would take up to one year for that type of financing project to move forward.
Dr. Dunn also addresses the reappointment professor Mark Wattier.
