Kentucky Utilities Provides Heating Assistance To Low-Income Customers

In an effort to help its’ most economically-disadvantaged customers pay their heating bills this winter, Kentucky Utilities Company has announced that it will match $2 for every $1 donated by residential customers to Wintercare. That’s the utility heating assistance program.

Cliff Feltham with Kentucky Utilities’s Corporate Communications Office said since there was a mild winter last year, he assumes this year will be a tough one.

“It’s a means that we’re trying to all be in this together and help those that are really are in need and there will be lots of them this winter," said Feltham. "[We are] just trying to bring awareness to the fact that winter’s not far off and there will be people in need."

Feltham said over the last five years, customer donations and matching funds from Kentucky Utilities and it’s sister company LGE have generated more than $1.6 million for the program. Residential customers may donate to Wintercare by making a monthly pledge or a one-time donation.
