12,000 Kentucky Walmart Employees Receive Raises En Route to $10/Hour

Walmart/Facebook

Retail giant Walmart is giving pay raises to its 12,088 employees in Kentucky. The move is part of a company-wide increase in wages that will see all Walmart employees earning $10 an hour by next February.

The raises kicked in on the pay period beginning April 4. Kentucky Walmart associates will now receive at least $1.75 an hour above the federal minimum wage.

The average full time hourly wage for Walmart employees in Kentucky is now $13.23.

Walmart says the company-wide raises are part of an effort to help workers move beyond entry-level jobs.
