Celebrity chef Rick Bayless launched an effort to help restaurant workers who have been laid off during the coronavirus pandemic.

The effort will provide food and some jobs to industry workers who are now unemployed.

One of the chef's restaurants that's currently closed, Frontera Grill, will host an operation to make 30-pound boxes of food with produce, bread and meat. Recently laid-off workers will get paid to pack the boxes, which will be available for pickup at restaurants citywide.

The effort is being funded by a $250,000 anonymous gift in partnership with US Foods.
