U.S. Senior District Judge Thomas Russell sentenced Friday a former bookkeeper for Paducah’s Audiology and Hearing Center to 27 months in prison for wire fraud.

U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman’s office said 53-year-old Dana Thomas stole more than $125,000 during her employment at the center.

Coleman said Thomas used company credit cards for personal transactions. The bookkeeper who succeeded Thomas after her resignation recognized the crime.

Coleman said court documents say Thomas “charged extravagantly,” spending $5,000 on a condo in Florida and other large purchases. She is ordered to pay restitution of nearly $148,000 and will serve three years of supervised release after prison.
