Murray State Professor Joshua Easterling has received a prestigious fellowship and will study in Germany starting this fall. He speaks with Tracy Ross on Sounds Good about his work and experience.
Easterling studied as a Master’s student at Ohio State, and also received his Ph.D. there. He focused on English and medieval studies. His dissertation examined religious figures and hermits in medieval England. He currently teaches at MSU’s departments of English and Modern Languages.
The fellowship is a post-doctoral program granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Easterling will study in Berlin, and he says he’s excited to have access to local academic resources that he wouldn’t be able to use in the U.S.
The professor says he loves Germany, and has visited frequently with his life. However, he says he hasn’t been to the northern part of the country and is excited to familiarize himself with the culture there.
Easterling will head to Germany in September, and will be on leave from MSU while on the fellowship.
