The Kentucky Department of Education has released its annual Report Card on public schools for the 2015-2016 school year.
Of our region; Murray Independent, Calloway County, and Ballard County schools rank the highest.
The KDE ranks individual schools and districts based on standardized test performances, teacher qualifications, student safety, awards and parent involvement.
Murray Independent showed a score of 85.6 and Calloway with 76.9 followed by Ballard County Schools in third place with a score of 75. All three were labeled Districts of Distinction.
Murray, Ballard and Fulton County schools saw the most improvement over the 2015-16 school year.
Statewide, Kentucky schools saw a less than-one percent improvement over scores last year, much lower than the 30 percent overall improvement that occurred between the previous two years.
Of the 25 districts in our region, 6 scored above a 70.5 to classify them as ‘distinguished,’ 15 are ‘proficient’ and 2 ‘need improvement.’ 10 schools showed improved scores over last year, 14 were lower and Daviess County’s accountability score stayed the same.
