The University of Tennessee at Martin is seeing increased enrollment for the spring semester.
UT Martin Chancellor Keith Carver in a release said the university’s enrollment is trending upward with positive indicators for the fall semester. Total enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students sits at 6,728. Graduate enrollment is at a record high with 580 total graduate students. That is an increase of 60.2 percent, or 218 students, from last year. Carver said the university is working diligently to attract more students to campus.
“We’re working hard to secure new freshmen and transfer students and optimize retention efforts for our current students,” he said.
Recruitment efforts include construction projects on campus and the addition of new academic programs.
University enrollment is used to calculate a full-time equivalency, or FTE. The FTE is calculated by dividing the total number of enrolled course hours by 15, for undergraduate students, and 12, for graduate students. The FTE is used to determine funding levels from the state government.
