Puppies Sound Good! Meet Harry

Puppies sound good today! We meet Harry, a Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherd mix. He's a 10 to 12 week-old puppy, white with heterochromatic eyes, and a few brown spots. He was very cuddly and laid-back when he came up to visit and fell asleep during his radio debut. He's available for adoption at the Humane Society of Calloway County. Executive Director Kathy Hodge stops by Sounds Good to talk with Todd Hatton about Harry, the Mutt Strut this Saturday, an Animal Health Technology Day, and how to prevent ticks and fleas.

The second annual Mutt Strut hosted by the Humane Society of Calloway County is this Saturday at the corner of 15th and Olive streets in Murray. The event includes a 5K run and a 1 mile dog walk. Registration forms are available at the Humane Society office or at forthepets.org.

The Animal Health Technology Day at Murray State starts at 8 am until 4 pm on April 25. The Humane Society does microchipping during the day and pet owners can have id tags made. The Animal Technology Pre-Vet Club offer doggie day spa activities and veterinary care including heartworm tests for dogs, FIV and FeLV tests for cats, free physicals, fecal tests, etc.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
Todd Hatton hails from Paducah, Kentucky, where he got into radio under the auspices of the late, great John Stewart of WKYX while a student at Paducah Community College. He also worked at WKMS in the reel-to-reel tape days of the early 1990s before running off first to San Francisco, then Orlando in search of something to do when he grew up. He received his MFA in Creative Writing at Murray State University. He vigorously resists adulthood and watches his wife, Angela Hatton, save the world one plastic bottle at a time.
