For the final puppies sound good special of 2015, we meet Lola, a sweet, fun-loving black lab mix puppy. She enjoyed meeting everyone at the station who came to greet her and played tug-of-war with her chew toy before heading into the studio. Kathy Hodge of the Humane Society of Calloway County also talks with Tracy Ross about the 2016 Pet Calendar and photos with 'Santa Claws.'
Lola was found on a side road in Calloway County. She has a cute face and ears, Hodge says, and has black fur all around. She's about 12 weeks old and is in her 'chewing' stage. She wants to chew on toys and treats and anything else she can get, so she'll need an energetic family, perhaps with kids, to keep her focused and out of trouble. She is very social and seems to love meeting people and getting attention.
The 2016 pet calendar is now available and features cats, dogs and even a hedgehog as featured photos, with numerous pet photos throughout the calendar all year. They are available for $10 donations. Also, this Saturday the Calloway County Humane Society is hosting photos with Santa Claws, where pets can have their photos taken with Santa Bob and Santa Mike.
As a reminder, when you give a puppy as a Christmas gift, make sure you're ready to own a puppy for the long-term. Kathy Hodge says she sees so many pets coming back in January and February. Puppies need to be fed, walked and kept busy. They're a huge commitment, usually 10 to 14 years and deserve a forever home, not a holiday home.
