Quinn Signs Veterans Laws on 4th of July

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn spent the morning of the Fourth of July signing three new laws affecting service members.  Quinn says it's a fitting day to sign legislation that will, in his words, “make sure our heroes receive the services they need."

Under one new law, veterans will receive a distinction on their driver's licenses and identification cards so they are easily identified by state agencies. The change must start by January 1st of  2015.  Another makes unemployed veterans and National Guard members between the ages of 15 and 25 eligible for employment in the Illinois Conservation Corps.  And the third new law makes employment and job training organizations eligible for grants through the Veterans Assistance Fund.
