Poll Shows 77 Percent of Kentuckians Know About Kynect

According to the Kentucky Health Issues Poll, 77 percent of adults in the state know about the state's online health insurance marketplace.

But, the survey released this week also indicates only 17 percent of uninsured adults say they have tried to get more information about Kynect.

Regan Hunt is director of Kentucky Voices for Health, which is a coalition of more than 200 health-focused organizations.

"Lots of people know about kynect," said Hunt. "Lots of people have those great reusable tote bags that they were giving away.  But, in terms of people going to the website and navigating the web site and figuring out what's out there, I can see why it's only 17 percent."

Hunt says one-on-one dialogue makes a difference.

"Whether it be through an insurance agent or one of the connectors that are all across the state, that is where getting those people out into the community as well is a really good way to get information."

Hunt says, when it comes to health insurance issues, many people really appreciate one-on-one contact.  Still, Kentucky has been recognized nationally for its effort to insure more citizens.  Since the fall of 2013, the state reports more than 521 thousand of its citizens have enrolled in coverage via Kynect.
