Kentucky Budget Director John Chilton says the Commonwealth’s tax collections in July were up nearly 5 percent from a year ago.
Chilton says state General Fund receipts last month totaled $769.3 million.
His office reported big gains in income and property tax collections and that corporate income tax collections rose more than 36 percent above last July's total, while individual income tax receipts were up 14 percent.
Property tax receipts surged more than 56 percent, while sales tax revenues grew more than 3 percent.
Coal severance tax revenues declined more than 46 percent and cigarette tax collections fell more than 9 percent.
Despite the robust July collections, Chilton cautions that sustaining that revenue trend remains a concern.
