Sen. Humphries Undecided On Proposed Pension Reform Bill
Republican State Senator Stan Humphries of west Kentucky said he is open to Governor Matt Bevin’s pension reform bill, but has not yet decided how he will vote on the proposed measure.
Humphries said he wants to see “where we end up with the bill,” and is still learning how it will impact state workers.
He said there is a great deal of concern regarding potential harm to Kentucky’s public workforce.
“That’s where we want to be, we want to be as least impactful to individuals and families and public workers as we can- all the while knowing that if we don’t do something we will find ourselves in a terrible situation come budget time.” Humphries said.
Humphries said he met with teachers from Trigg County and the surrounding area before the bill was released and passed their concerns to the pension oversight board and the group that was formulating the bill at the time.
He said he has also spoken with retired teacher groups and others who have reached out to him with concerns.
