On this 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, Dr. Marjorie Hilton, Associate Professor of History at MSU, and M.A. student, Jon Dunning, talk to Tracy Ross about the impact of the revolution on Americans and their way of life, or Americanism.
100 years ago on November 7, 1917, the Bolsheviks, led by Lenin and Trotsky, came to power. Upon the abdication of Emperor Nicholas II, the first communist state in history was founded in the former Russian Empire. However, after the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe in 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, communism has been frequently viewed as a governmental and societal experiment that failed. The 1917 Russian fight for a communist government is often overlooked, although it had a significant impact on American citizens and their way of life, or "Americanism."
Dr. Marjorie Hilton, MSU Associate Professor of History, and M.A. student, Jon Dunning, visited Sounds Good to discuss the Russian Revolution and its impact influence on American ways of life.
