Murray, KY – The presidential election is less than a month away, and regional clerks are evaluating the number of new voters. Calloway County has seen a significant increase with total registration going up thirteen percent since the May primary. County Clerk Ray Coursey isn't sure why the numbers have gone up so much, but says many bipartisan organizations have been holding registration drives throughout Calloway. Other counties have also seen an increase. Deputy McCracken County Clerk Lori Otey says as of September fifteenth, there were 770 new registrants in her county. Otey expects that number to increase by a couple hundred when final tallies come out next week.
