Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's Democratic Governor Steve Beshear and Republican Senate president David Williams are offering differing views on making up a projected $1 billion budget deficit during the next two years. Williams says tax reform and streamlined government should be the focus, not gambling. Beshear says tax reform is harder during recessions, because the working class could suffer additional burdens. Beshear says expanded gambling could generate several hundred million dollars in revenue for the state. Williams and Governor Beshear spoke to local officials at the Kentucky Association of Counties conference in Louisville.
