No Break Expected in Illinois Jobless Benefits

By AP

Springfield, IL – There will be no interruption in Illinois' unemployment insurance benefit payments after Congress passed a one-month extension of existing programs this week. As many as 15,000 workers each week would have exhausted their unemployment benefits without congressional action. The extension runs through April 5th. Nearly $3 billion in federal funds have been used to pay benefits beyond the initial 26 weeks.
