Holliday Urges Bills' Passage Will Help RTTT Chances

By Chris Taylor

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday has sent a letter to Senator Ken Winters and Representative Carl Rollins, both of whom chair their respective legislatures' Education Committees. In the letter, Holliday praises their bi-partisan support of the state's application for federal Race to the Top funds and encourages them to move key pieces of education legislation forward. Kentucky passed legislation to become the first state to adopt Common Core Academic Standards and Holliday says the graduation dropout bill up before the House is one of several important pieces needing to be passed to improve Kentucky's chances on its Race to the Top application.
