Paducah, KY – Paducah convention and expo center officials are asking city and county government for a quarter million dollars to help operate the facilities in the coming year. Convention Center Corporation Chairman Jim Sigler says that would be spread evenly between Paducah and McCracken County. Sigler says the facilities are popular, but their revenues aren't enough to keep them open. Organizations, including the Quilt Show have booked the locations through 2014, so closing them isn't an option. Sigler says if a hotel developer decides to build on the Executive Inn property, the city and county would turn over convention center operations and expenses to the developer. McCracken County Deputy Judge-Executive Doug Harnice says Sigler's request will be considered in upcoming budget discussions, along with other allocations.
