Budget Talks Break Down

By Chad Lampe

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky House and Senate budget negotiators have gone their separate ways. The breakdown in negotiations came today after about three hours of talks. As he exited, Senate minority floor leader Ed Worley said no further negotiations have been scheduled. Aide to the house speaker Brian Wilkerson says it's difficult to say when budget talks will resume.

"It's not known at this point right now we're always open to negotiations house leaders are available if that's needed and then we just hope we can have some sort of agreement if not today then sometime soon."

If no budget agreement is reached today the legislature will have no time to over ride any vetoes issued by the Governor.
