Level 1 Drought Hits Western Kentucky

By David Schmoll

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet in conjunction with other state organizations has declared a Level 1 Drought for all far Western Kentucky Counties. This summer the counties affected have received 40% less rainfall than normal. Along with crop damage to many fields, the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority reported the drought gave their drinking water an "earthy" taste forcing the company to alter their purification process.
