Surprisingly little road damage from storm

By Rebecca Feldhaus

Murray, KY – Counties in the listening region report few road blockages from today's severe storms. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesperson Keith Todd says though there were a handful of trees blocking roadways, vehicles did not see a large amount of obstructions. He says previous weather disasters could have helped in making the effects of this storm milder.

"One of our highway engineers was speculating that the reason we have so few trees down from this event is the fact that all the weakened trees had been taken out by the ice storm. The trees that are still standing are probably pretty sturdy and able to withstand a pretty substantial windstorm."

Todd reported one grain bin in Fulton County that passed over the roadway, wrapping around a passing vehicle. There was no reported injury. Downed trees temporarily blocked Kentucky 2253 in Henderson County and US 431 in Muhlenburg County.
