Mayfield, KY – Mayfield's Board of Ethics yesterday rejected an allegation of nepotism among city staff members. The allegation came from former Mayor Arthur Byrn just weeks after his November loss to current Mayor Teresa Cantrell. Byrn called into question the employment status of Cantrell's half-brother, Deputy City Clerk Jeff Lamb. The city's policy bars employees from supervising family members. However, the city code's definition of family member' doesn't include half-siblings. The Paducah Sun reports the board terminated its investigation into the complaint, ruling unanimously there is no ethics violation.
