Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's Department of Education will get some help from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as officials introduce tough new common core content standards for math and English in public schools. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the foundation will give the agency $1 million over two years. The standards are part of a wide-ranging education reform package that goes into effect next school year. State education officials hope to attract more private grant funds to help implement the changes.
