Washington, D. C. – Kentucky Congressman Ed Whitfield says the EPA is exceeding its authority in regulating greenhouse gas emissions, and the first district republican lawmaker wants that to end. Whitfield has proposed an amendment to a continuing resolution that would prohibit the federal agency from further regulation of those gases.
"It would have no effect on the agency's ongoing efforts to deal with smog, soot, lead, mercury, and all the other pollutants that have been addressed under the Clean Air Act. It is simply a bill to stop the agency and bureaucrats from issuing regulations absent congressional approval."
Whitfield claims the EPA's actions are causing uncertainty in the economy and making it more difficult for US companies to create jobs.
