Lexington, Ky – With gold wax in place of the trademark red covering the top of its bottle, Maker's Mark has unveiled its latest commemorative bottle of bourbon, this one honoring Keeneland's 75th anniversary. The bottle goes on sale April 8 and will benefit an arts endowment in honor of retiring University of Kentucky president Lee Todd Jr. and his wife Patsy.
"The proceeds from the endowment allow students from the university orchestra to travel around the state playing concerts in schools and working with schoolkids all over Kentucky as well as playing concerts in performing arts centers around the state."
UK Symphony Orchestra Director John Nardolillo says the endowment has allowed college musicians to travel to communities such as Ashland and Whitesburg. Maker's Mark expects to raise about $200,000 dollars from the sale of $18,000 bottles.
