Metropolis, IL – The United Steel Workers union and Honeywell corporation agreed to break off negotiations early today. Local 7-669 President Darrell Lillie says the two sides are coming to some tough issues in the contract. Those include new hire pensions, how overtime is paid, and outside contracts. Lillie says talks have been productive, but the union needs time to think more about these hot-button issues. The two sides are tentatively set to negotiate again May 2. Lillie says they had wanted to set talks for next week, but the American Quilters Society Show and Contest prevented representatives from booking hotel rooms.
