Crime Down in Tennessee for 3rd Straight Year

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reports overall crime in the state decreased over 2 and a half percent in 2010 compared with the previous year. The TBI says 2010 was the third year in a row that reported crimes fell compared with the year before. Since 2008, the TBI says crime in Tennessee has dropped seven percent. According to the TBI the reported number of murders decreased by nearly 24 percent. Simple assaults made up the largest number of crimes reported, with more than 96,000, but that number was also down from 2009.
