West Tennessee – Obion, Stewart and Lake counties are among 15 Tennessee counties declared federal disaster areas today due to severe storms and flooding. The counties are approved for assistance for individuals and certain organizations. Residents and business owners who sustained losses can immediately begin applying for FEMA assistance. Montgomery County qualifies for public assistance, making it eligible for federal help for debris removal and road and bridge repair, among other cleanup. A separate disaster declaration approved yesterday also includes Lake County. It covers tornadoes and flash flooding that occurred in early April.
