Paducah, KY – The Ohio River at Paducah is expected to drop below 50 feet by Friday. That's part of last night's city commission update. Paducah Area Red Cross Executive Director Jessica Toren told commissioners more than two dozen people are staying at the shelter at Margaret Hank Memorial Church. Toren also says disaster assessment teams have verified flood damage to 150 homes in Livingston County, 36 in Ballard, and between 3 and 4 hundred in McCracken County. She reported three trucks were filled with donated cleaning supplies at the Stuff a Truck event. Toren told commissioners monetary donations will be welcome, saying big donors will be needed to keep relief efforts going. In other commission news, members approved an order providing 15 thousand dollars toward the construction of a Korean War Veteran memorial to be located at Dolly McNutt Plaza. The county has also pledged 15 thousand, with Paducah's American Legion Post 31 agreeing to handle fundraising if construction costs exceed 30 thousand dollars.
