Asian Carp Proposed Regulation Meeting

Gilbertsville, KY – Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife officials are recommending a plan to take advantage of the growing populations of Asian carp in Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. In a public meeting Tuesday, Director Ron Brooks presented a plan to encourage commercial fishing of Silver and Bighead Asian carp. The plan includes ideas processing facilities to prepare and export the fish to wanting markets. Brooks stresses the importance of a concerted effort with Tennessee and Mississippi, as the states' waterways are interconnected.
