Paul Wants No-Confidence Vote on Geithner

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is making good on a promise he made last month while back home on congressional recess. The Bowling Green Republican has filed a resolution calling for a vote of no confidence in Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Senator Paul says he doesn't think Geithner will institute policies that will reverse the recent downgrade in the nation's debt rating or curb unemployment.

"You know the economy is growing at about one percent. People are worried, are we now headed towards another recession. I don't think there's any objective evidence that Timothy Geithner's doing a good job."

Senator Paul accuses the Treasury Secretary of presiding over bank and auto bailouts and what he calls "failed trillion-dollar stimuls plans". He also contends Geithner had a direct role in the failure of the fed to diagnose and act on the housing crisis. Paul's resolution, largely symbolic, has no chance of passing the Democratic-controlled Senate.
