Frankfort, KY – The results of the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in mathematics and reading shows Kentucky's 4th and 8th graders made gains and outperformed the nation in some areas. State math scores in both grades have steadily improved since 2009, and reading scores are better than the national average. NAEP is the nation's only nationally representative and continuing survey of students' educational achievement.
