Frankfort, KY – Looking to next year's election Representative Mike Cherry of Princeton says that it's likely Kentucky house and senate majorities will remain split. Cherry also expects for Governor Beshear to try to proceed with (and for Republicans to resist) a statewide referendum on expanding gaming in the Commonwealth.
"It will be interesting to see if the Senate and David Williams try to stop that from happening. It's been an annual issue for the last 6 or 8 years to talk about expanding gaming. Maybe we can go ahead and put it on the ballot and let the people speak and then have some settlement on that issue."
Cherry says he doesn't expect all Kentucky Democrats to vote in favor of expanding gambling, but he thinks they will support the proposed referendum- which would allow the general public to vote on the matter.
