Fort Campbell, KY – Former 101st Airborne Division Private First Class Naser Abdo, who faces charges in a bomb and shooting plot at a Texas army base, says his original target was Fort Campbell. Abdo was caught July 27 with weapons and a bomb inside a backpack just outside Fort Hood. He admitted planning what would have been Fort Hood's second terrorist attack in less than two years. But Abdo tells WSMV in Nashville his original plan was to kidnap and execute a high ranking member of his own chain of command at Fort Campbell. He says his plan changed when military police discovered he had been visiting gun stores near the military post. Abdo instead planned to bomb a popular restaurant for soldiers outside Fort Hood. He has been indicted on nine federal charges, including intent to use a weapon of mass destruction, and remains in federal custody in Waco, Texas.
