Paducah Homeless Center Site Condemned

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – The Tennessee Street location for a planned homeless shelter in Paducah has been condemned. Paducah's Chief Building Inspector Les Fugate sent a letter Tuesday to building owner Tent City Missions indicating multiple violations and security issues to be fixed before it is safe for occupancy. The city's action doesn't prohibit authorized repairs by the owners to bring the building up to code, but it does prohibit occupancy by any anyone until those repairs are made and inspected. Neighbors complained people had been seen coming and going during the day and night. The Paducah Sun reports the building has never been used as a residence, but the bottom floor had been used to store donations.
