Murray, KY – The Calloway County Fiscal Court has agreed to support the City of Murray in the construction of a new $45 million wastewater treatment plant. The fiscal court was withholding its support until they were assured county customers would pay the same rate as those in the city. City Administrator Matt Mattingly says the city plans to raise sewer rates by 5% a year for the next five years to aid in financing the project. He says the new plant is needed because the current one is at a 90% capacity and an upgrade is needed to comply with federal law.
