Murray, KY – Kentucky State House Democrats say Governor Steve Beshear told them he will give $1 million in next year's legislative races. Lawmakers who attended a luncheon last week with Beshear say the governor stated he would use the money to help Democratic candidates running for seats in the House and Senate. All of Kentucky's House seats are up for election next year, as well as half of the state's 38 Senate seats. Beshear spokeswoman Kerri Richardson declined to comment on the pledge, but says excess funds from the campaign would go to the Democratic Party as law allows. Beshear's gubernatorial campaign reported just under 160,000 dollars on hand last week. The Commonwealth's Democratic Party had over 660,000 dollars.
