This week, we get an update on efforts to restore traffic across Kentucky Lake in the wake of the Eggner’s Ferry bridge collapse two weeks ago. Also, we'll meet a mother-daughter duo fighting bullying, and we'll hear from actors in the upcoming production of Sweeney Todd, opening at the Theatre Workshop of Owensboro.
(1.) KEITH TODD 2-WAY -- It’s been two weeks since the Delta Mariner crashed into the Eggners Ferry Bridge, collapsing a 300 foot section of the road deck. The biggest question still remaining for motorists and business owners who depend on the traffic over the bridge is when and how will traffic be restored. Chad Lampe speaks with Kentucky Department of Highways Spokesman Keith Todd for an update.
(2.) MCCRACKEN CO CAMPAIGN AGAINST BULLYING -- McCracken County’s Susan Guess and her daughter Morgan have a message for bullies: enough is enough. Through videos and posts on social media sites Susan and Morgan are getting the word out on the dangers of bullying and how to stop it. They’ve even raised money to bring in speakers to talk with local civic groups about bullying. WKMS’s Shelly Baskin spoke with Susan about bullying, and how everyone can be a victim of it, even adults.
(3.) SWEENEY TODD @ TWO -- Theatre Workshop of Owensboro is running Steven Sodenheim’s famous musical “Sweeney Todd” about a vengeful barber in post-industrial London. Benjamin Barker returns from 15 years in exile with a new alias- Sweeney Todd. Todd teams up with his old neighbor Mrs. Lovett and they devise a murderous partnership that also provides income for their day jobs. Todd slits the throats of his barbershop customers and disposes of the bodies in Mrs. Lovett’s bakery where she makes meat pies. The Theatre Workshop of Owensboro is running the play in its newly-acquired Opryhouse under the direction of Brian Luedloff. Rose Krzton-Presson spoke with two of the actors just before rehearsal last week.
