Come one, come all to the Moondog Coronation Ball! Held at the Cleveland Arena on March 21, 1952 - this event is generally accepted as the first major rock and roll concert. It was notable for featuring both black and white musical performers in a racially mixed audience at a time when almost all performers, radio stations, and record labels were de facto segregated. One of the organizers was Alan Freed, a radio DJ said to have coined the term "Rock and Roll." The place was packed with an estimated crowd of 20,000 - way over capacity (the arena held only slightly more than half of that). Worried that a riot would ensue, the authorities shut down the concert after the first song by opening act Paul "Hucklebuck" Williams.

The Ballard Football Boosters will be selling mulch on Friday and Saturday. The cost for black or natural mulch is $4 for a 2 cubic foot bag, or $55 for a bulk yard.
