From NPR: Have a hankering for public radio’s latest favorite tunes? Here’s a list of the 10 songs stations like WKMS just can’t stop playing – and don’t you worry, there’s more than just jazz.

Kentucky: Anglers and politicians are on the same team when it comes to keeping the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from putting barriers along Cumberland River dams. A Progress Kentucky leader is now saying he was “just a witness” to the secret recording of a campaign meeting for U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell that was released by Mother Jones last week. A Lone Oak Elementary School student receives a state award for her work on anti-bullying initiatives. A Hickman farm supplier has seen an uptick in thefts of a fertilizer chemical that can also be used to make methamphetamine. Hybrid vehicles and public transportation haven’t caused a drop in gas tax revenue.

Tennessee: As the legislative session nears its end, the Tennessee General Assembly hopes to push through two education proposals. Nashville Public Radio’s capitol reporter talks about a bill dealing with animal cruelty that activists think is a sham.

Illinois: Gov. Pat Quinn fesses up to waiting until the last minute to do his taxes, and he says it’s OK if you’re in the same boat.

Whitney grew up listening to Car Talk to and from her family’s beach vacation each year, but it wasn’t until a friend introduced her to This American Life that radio really grabbed her attention. She is a recent graduate from Union University in Jackson, Tenn., where she studied journalism. When she’s not at WKMS, you can find her working on her backyard compost pile and garden, getting lost on her bicycle or crocheting one massive blanket.
