A Memphis man faces thirteen charges including reckless driving and wanton endangerment of a police officer after leading Tennessee and Kentucky law enforcement on a car chase Monday afternoon that ended in Murray.
Calloway County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) officials in a press release said the car chase began in Henry County, Tennessee.
CCSO deputies began pursuing Vincie Bell once he crossed the Kentucky border northbound on U.S. Highway 641. Bell eventually abandoned his silver Nissan Maxima in a yard on Kirkwood Avenue in Murray and fled on foot.
While searching for Bell with help from Murray police and Kentucky State Police, CCSO deputies stopped a suspicious vehicle. Deputies determined the driver of this vehicle was supposed to pick Bell up.
A Murray police officer found Bell near 1300 Peggy Ann Drive after a house-to-house search in the area. Calloway County Sheriff Sam Steger then took Bell into custody.
Bell faces these charges:
- Two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer
- One count of first-degree evasion of police by moter vehicle
- One count of second-degree evasion of police on foot
- One count of giving an officer false identifying information
- One count of reckless driving
- One count of driving on a suspended license
- One count of speeding 26 mph or greater in a restricted zone
- Five counts of disregarding a stop sign
