The head of Murray-Calloway Economic Development Corporation said an operation to build a $50 million automotive parts facility is still underway in Murray.
Mark Manning said construction company Denham-Blythe is finishing pits for the forging equipment needed for the South Korea-based DAE-IL Corporation site. Manning said DAE-IL is a capital-intensive operation that requires “very high-dollar manufacturing equipment.” He said difficulties in finishing equipment for the factory has slowed progress.
Manning said he can’t give an exact time when the company will begin to take applications. But he said he hopes the process accelerates.
“We always think to go out and hire 120 people today, particularly with the really sad things going on with Briggs and Stratton and the number of good people that are losing their jobs,” Manning said.
Briggs and Stratton released a second round of Layoffs in Murray on Friday. DAE-IL broke ground in 2018 and plans to eventually hire 120 employees.
