Aluminum Company Novelis Plans to Build $300M Facility in Todd Co.

Novelis, Inc.

An aluminum rolling and recycling company is planning to build a $300 million manufacturing facility in Todd County.

Novelis, Inc. expects to break ground in early spring on a 400,000 square foot facility, creating about 125 jobs. The facility will manufacture automotive aluminum sheets. The company plans to open in Guthrie in 2020. Todd County Judge Executive Daryl Greenfield says he is hopeful the facility will bring more businesses to the area.

“Well that’s our hope that there’ll be some spin-off with this,” Greenfield said. “Anytime you create good jobs like this there’s going to be other income from other facilities being built or businesses. Stores, minit marts, gas stations--whatever you get it’s all good.”

The facility will be built on a 150-acre lot and will heat treat and pre-treat rolled aluminum coils from a Logan Aluminum, Inc. site in Russellville. Novelis has approximately 11,000 employees and produced $10 billion dollars in revenue during the 2017 fiscal year. The company operates in 10 countries.
