Attorney General Orders U of L to Surrender Financial Report Documents

Facebook, University of Louisville

A Kentucky Attorney General opinion says the University of Louisville violated the state’s Open Records Act and must release documents regarding an analysis of the schools financial controls.
The Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting has challenged the University's denial of an open records request regarding a final report on the school's financial controls. The July 2nd report included 17 recommendations and left many wondering how different it may have been from the original draft.

The KYCIRreports U of L officials waited several weeks to respond, at first denying the existence of the report and then refusing to turn it over, claiming it was exempt from disclosure because it was a draft. Although drafts are exempt, the new ruling states that all preliminary documents must also be surrendered.

The University of Louisville can file an appeal before Sept. 26th, or else submit the documents.
